Wealden Pilates is run by expert Pilates practitioner Sarah McPherson and is based on the East Sussex/Kent border, serving the High Weald areas of Flimwell, Sandhurst, Hawkhurst, Goudhurst, Hurst Green, Robertsbridge and Wadhurst. 

 

As a fully qualified classical Pilates Instructor for 25 years, Sarah has the knowledge and experience you can trust to help you achieve your goals.

The Pilates Method

The Pilates Method helps you move and function at your best. With regular practice you gain a strong core, Joseph Pilates called it the Powerhouse, which in turn helps support good posture, thus  enabling your body to move better.

Pilates requires concentration which in turn allows your mind a rest from the daily grind. In short, it's excellent for keeping your mind and body working in tip-top condition.

Pilates is considered essential for all sports conditioning and is part of every elite players programme.

It is excellent to aid rehabilitation of injuries and muscular-skeletal disorders.

Pilates is commonly referred by medical professionals for issues such as Scoliosis, general back pain, sciatica, posture correction and shoulder rehab. It is low impact and keeps you strong during pregnancy and helps "knit you back together" post-natal.

Following a serious recent operation, I started in the beginner’s class as a total novice. I’ve made steady progress to the intermediate class, and I now see this weekly group session as an integral part of a growing exercise regime.

 

It makes a real difference. I leave each class invigorated and stimulated, with my flexibility greatly improved and my core is now definitely stronger. There is a good blend of the familiar and the new, with some of the exercises more challenging in a good way!

 

Sarah is motivating, very clear and supportive with time to comment individually whilst continuing to engage with the whole class.

 

It’s an important mental as well as physical contributor to my overall well-being as the environment is not only friendly and supportive but also engaging and positive.

 

With the right levels of encouragement, I try to push myself during the class and often on the day after, my body will remind me of the effort I have put in!
